Tallahasee, FL - Iona College senior outdoor track and field standout Abraham Ng'etich automatically qualified for the NCAA Championship with a third place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the East Regionals this evening. The event was held at Mike Long Track on the campus of Florida State University.

Ng'etich finished just under three seconds behind the regional champion from Villanova with a time of 14:08.98. His top five finish automatically qualifies him for the NCAA Championship at Drake University from June 11-14.

Teammate Andrew Ledwith finished 11th overall in 14:20.75. He will await the results of the other regional championships to see if he earned an at-large bid. Junior Mohamed Khadraoui was unable to compete in the race due to cramps suffered in the warm conditions in Florida.

The three competitors will compete in the NCAA Championships as Ledwith and Khadraoui have already qualified in the 10,000-meter event earlier this season.
